Ready To Knock The Cover Off The Ball In 2008 And Finally Join The "1% Club?"

Happy New Year to you…

All you hear when a New Year begins is what?

Time to set New Years resolutions and New Years goals…Yeah, yeah, yeah…It's gettin' old...

So, how did all those resolutions and goals work out for you last year? How about the year before that? Exactly…

We all have resoutions and goals, both personally and professionally, but I have some disturbing news for you...You're not going to achieve them. Not this year, not next year, not ever. Unless…

…Unless you know the "one and only" insider secret as to why only 1% of those who set New Years goals ever achieve them while the other 99% find themselves in the exact same boat as last year and the year before that, moving sideways, even backwards year in and year out.

Ever felt this way? Ready for the answer?

One word: VALUES.

Huh? That’s right. Values.

If you do not what YOUR values are or what YOU stand for, how on earth will you ever achieve your goals?

Well 99% don’t have any idea what they really value therefore 99% never, ever achieve their New Years goals. Now do you see why the above numbers work out every time?

So no better time than now, less than one week into a brand spankin' new calendar year to help you, as a very valued subscriber to The Home Business Insider, graduate to the "1% Club" this year!

WHAT IS A VALUE?

Something is a value if it has great desirability or worth to you. It is important enough that you spend time trying to obtain it or keep it as a part of your lifestyle. A value is simply a label for something that is most important to you. Values are external to you.

For instance, if you value organization what must be organized is the environment around you. If you value pleasure what you value most will be the situations and people who create pleasurable experiences for you. Individuals tend to value different things and types of situations because they have different needs within them.

Your values reflect a vital part of who you are. Knowing what is most important to you and why can be helpful when making meaningful decisions, setting goals and for developing effective relationships.

It is very tough to make decisions about work, recreation, home and interpersonal relationships without first knowing what is most important to you. Wouldn't you agree?

People who are confused and unclear about their values often have difficulty making the bigger decisions in life (such as setting NEW goals) because they do not know themselves well enough to decide what would be best for them.

…Read that again. Incredibly important.

So how do you identify your values?

Enter the VPI - The Values Preference Indicator

The VPI is a simple, non-psychometric measure of personal value preferences. The VPI was created to be a self-awareness and educational tool. It was designed to help users gain a deeper understanding of which values are most important to them.

The exercises in the indicator have been provided so that participants can systematically examine common values for the purpose of self-learning...

This is powerful stuff and none of us can afford to dismiss it unless of course you are systematically hitting your goals and achieving all you could ever want year in and year out. Is that you? Are you a "1%er?"

Like all self-discovery assessments, the VPI was not created to be the only values exercise you will have to complete, so please do not assume your results will contain all the information related to values that you will ever need.

QUICK SUMMARY

The VPI consists of three exercises:

• Identifying Key Values
• Prioritizing Your Values
• Time/Energy Test

What makes certain values more important in your life than others? The answer is that values are determined by people's primary needs. In order to function properly in life we need certain things. Clearest examples are what's called "primary needs" (ones you can't live without) are air, food, water, clothing, shelter.

There are also needs people can live without but would prefer to have met as often as possible. These are "preferred needs." Primary and preferred needs both strongly influence how you behave and the decisions you make in life.

In most life situations you evaluate your experience according to how well that situation meets your needs. Situations that meet your needs are more valuable to you than situations which do not meet your needs. This is why certain experiences in life seem more satisfying than others...

Yet situations which fulfill your needs may not meet someone else's. For instance, one person's high need for independence may lead her to quit a steady job to start her own business while another person's high need for security might influence him to work twenty years for the same company.

Needs and fears are opposite sides of the same coin and function like a teeter-totter. When needs are adequately met, fears go down or decrease. If needs are consistently unmet, fears go up or increase...

For example, if you have a high need for acceptance, you will have a greater fear of rejection than someone who has a low need for acceptance. When I use the term fear I am not talking about basic fears that are related to primary needs such as suffocating, starving, being bit by a snake, or phobias. I am talking about common everyday fears that produce insecurity, stress, and anxiety.
